Supervised by Dr. Greenwood and supported by Vance Thompson Vision’s research department, the team in Fargo actively studies advancements in glaucoma, cataract, corneal disease, and presbyopia correction as well as refractive treatments.Their efforts to share study opportunities with patients and to help bring new treatments to market contributes to breakthroughs that improve vision and enrich lives.

Studies are ongoing and fall into two categories: sponsored clinical trials, most of which are FDA-monitored; or investigator-initiated trials, studies sparked by our doctors’ desire to understand an already-approved technology better. At any given time, Fargo’s team is working on trials that, in the long run, will bring even more advanced care to their patients.

The Fargo Team

The Fargo team is led by board-certified ophthalmologist Dr. Michael Greenwood. While in college, Dr. Greenwood was a standout on the UND football team. The lessons he learned on the field — team work, surpassing expectations, and honing your craft — combined with his drive to be the most skilled surgeon his patients ever meet has made him a world-class doctor with a respected reputation.

Dr. Greenwood works closely with his clinical partners, optometrists Nick Risbrudt and Brooke Messer. Along with the rest of the Fargo team, they offer patients the best possible care, the latest advancements in technology, and a welcoming atmosphere to share their concerns and questions.

Wonderful teamwork and respect for each other’s opinions. Four or five including two doctors stayed until 545 five to make sure I didn’t have a serious problem. Excellent quality all the way around. This was under Dr. Seth’s leadership at the beautiful new clinic in West Fargo.

Vance Thompson has some of the most thorough and thoughtful providers in Fargo. I had an eye check up with them and learned more about my lazy eye than any other vision center I’ve visited. They also took my dry eye symptoms seriously and were able to help me relive some pain the same day. I also completed a study with them and it was super easy, informative, and straightforward. When I moved they also sent me a personal gift to the city I was moving. The attention to detail and care goes above and beyond! Could not recommend more!

I can not touch my eyes or let anyone get near them. Vance Thompson made this cataract surgery was so easy for me. From the time you enter either building, you feel like a valued customer. They did a very thorough examination of my eyes and gave me a clear picture of where I was at and my choices to improve my sight. The days of the surgery went quickly and smoothly. I can not say enough about how thoroughly impressed I am with the team of professionals. I would recommend the Fargo office to anyone needing help with their sight.
