Meet Dr. Schmit
Dr. Schmit is a board-certified optometrist with more than 25 years of experience in laser vision correction and cataract procedures. He joined the Vance Thompson Vision team in April 2013 after departing the executive leadership team of a national laser vision correction company and owning a private practice in Minnesota. Dr. Schmit’s major areas of expertise are cataract and refractive surgery, cornea care, dry eye, and oculoplastics.
A nationally known dry eye specialist with extensive experience in clinical research, Dr. Schmit has participated in over 75 FDA clinical trials to improve the future of eye care through new products, devices, technology, and services.

Personal & Hobbies
Dr. Schmit and his wife, Lori, have two sons in college, Gavin and Gabe. During his time off, Dr. Schmit can be found participating in many outdoor activities such as a round of golf, hiking, riding his bike, time on the lake, or traveling with family and friends.
